The winds of change are constantly blowing, pulling me from one place to another, for one reason or another. Recently the winds of change have been blowing with more vigor than usual. I first began to notice the stength of the winds, when I was told to see if anyone I was working with would let me utilise a piece of floor for a while. But from that point I heard nothing, no faint breeze blowing on my face, as I search for direction.
Then like a storm brewing in the Australian Outback, it came on me with fury, blowing me in the direction I was supposed to go despite my reservations. We had to be out, 24 hours till deadline, not much warning, but then the strongest of storms don't always give much warning. It was this that made me make my move to Calgary, all be it a little sooner than anticipated. The winds blew, and I was gone from my place in Ottawa, to another temporary abode. The winds then again died down for a while, but they had already done there work. Things had been set into motion that could not be changed. But for a couple of weeks, there was a lull, and some time to enjoy the many beauties and untold wonders of the Captial of Canada.
I was staying with Andrew and Sarah, a couple soon to be married, Andrew works at Dell, and Sarah for the government. I cannot express my thanks enough for their hospitality, and allowing me to weather my storm. But like the eye of a storm, my next two weeks were calm, and full of wonders. I would also like to take this moment to thank Marc and Jen, for transporting me to and from work for those two weeks. During my drives I experienced a couple of Canadian Delicacies, The Tim Horton Double Double, too much caffenine in one coffee, or the cream was bad... The next was a chocolate cake type thing, with sponge and such, quite nice, a May West I believe was the name.
I got to visit a few of the sights while staying with Andrew and Sarah. The Parlimentary building, with its recently renovated library, quite impressive. I also finally got a good photo of a squirrel. We had brunch at a few really nice places. I saw an impressive building in a building, quite odd. We also went to the Art Gallery, out the front was a huge metalic spider, and I'm sure it said climb me on it, so who was I to say no, that would be like fighting against the winds, not a good idea. Unfortunately, the photos didn't work.
A little storm from Japan visited me, Keiko, a good friend who I met in Winnipeg, and had met up with again in Niagra Falls. Taking a couple of days off from her tour guide position she made the trek to Ottawa, we didn't get much time together, but we did get a chance to have brunch a couple of times, and do a bit of wandering around town. It was good to see her again, we get along well. But all too soon she had to leave..and a day later the winds again blew strongly, and sent me on my way to Calgary. But this is a story for another time. The winds are still blowing, but I am keeping them at bay for the moment.
